Privacy & cookies
Share only what is needed to consider your matter. This notice explains enquiry information, website hosting and the private article administrator.
Who is responsible?
Keane Davison is the individual data controller for initial enquiries addressed to his self-employed barrister practice and for the legal work he personally accepts. Contact keane.davison@tbgbarrister.co.uk for privacy questions and rights requests, or write to Keane Davison, c/o The Barrister Group, Equity House, Administration Centre, Blackbrook Park Avenue, Taunton, Somerset TA1 2PX. The Barrister Group provides clerking and administration; its privacy policy describes chambers' own processing and recognises that individual barrister members are controllers in their own right.
Enquiries and legal work
The enquiry choices are the short website form, an email to Keane or the external enquiry form linked from his Direct Access Portal profile. The website form sends your name, reply email, short outline and any optional area/date to Keane through Resend. No file uploads are provided. If online sending is temporarily unavailable, use direct email or the Portal. An email link opens your email application; a message is sent only when you send it there. The Portal is a separate service with its own information and privacy arrangements.
For first contact, give your name, reply address, a short outline and any important date. Keane personally triages and replies. Relevant parties' names may be requested for a conflict check, and appropriate case papers requested later through an agreed secure route. Do not send names of children, health details, detailed safeguarding or disciplinary allegations, witness information or confidential documents at first contact. An enquiry does not create a barrister–client relationship.
Information is used to respond, check conflicts and suitability, consider a quote, take steps you request before a possible contract and, where accepted, provide legal services. Relevant UK GDPR bases include pre-contractual or contractual steps for individual clients, legitimate interests in responding to business/representative enquiries and protecting the practice, and legal obligations where applicable. Sensitive information needed for legal work also requires an applicable special-category or criminal-offence processing condition and appropriate safeguards. Initial enquiries are not used for marketing subscriptions, and no automated decision determines acceptance of a matter.
Recipients and retention
Keane receives enquiries for personal triage and reply. Information may be shared with authorised clerking staff at The Barrister Group as necessary for conflicts, an instruction or administration, and with relevant email/service providers to deliver and secure communications. Legal or regulatory authorities may receive information where required. The website form uses Resend to deliver enquiry notifications to keane.davison@tbgbarrister.co.uk. Resend processes the submitted details and related delivery metadata under its data-processing agreement. Its primary processing operations are in the United States; the agreement includes UK international-transfer provisions. A UK domain does not mean UK-only processing. No open/click tracking or marketing mailing list is added by the website. Email providers and the external Portal have their own service arrangements, separate from this website's hosting.
Information is retained only as long as necessary for the enquiry or instruction, conflict management, legal/professional obligations and any unresolved claim or complaint. Following the relevant principles in chambers' policy, practice records are ordinarily deleted, destroyed or anonymised around seven years after the relevant processing ends, subject to overriding legal or legitimate reasons for longer retention. Unnecessary initial-enquiry information is deleted sooner where appropriate; not every unsuccessful enquiry must be kept for seven years. The instruction agreement separately explains client-paper retention. The form endpoint does not save the message or contact fields in the website database or application logs; transient processing sends them to the email provider and mailbox. To prevent abuse and duplicate sends, opaque hashed identifiers, counters and submission status expire after approximately 25 hours and become eligible for deletion on subsequent form requests; if there are no further requests, expired metadata may remain until operational cleanup; hosting and email providers may separately retain technical/delivery records under their arrangements.
Hosting and essential cookies
This website is hosted through Manus-managed infrastructure, not The Barrister Group's private cloud. Hosting/security providers may process technical request information, including IP address and browser/request data, to deliver and protect the site. The Manus privacy policy describes its service providers, retention purposes and possible international processing, including outside the UK, and how to request information about applicable transfer safeguards. Keane can be contacted about the arrangements relevant to this website. No UK-only hosting claim is made.
No advertising pixels, marketing subscriptions or optional analytics are added by this site's application. The private article administrator uses Manus authentication and strictly necessary security cookies: webdev_app_session for the authorised editor's login (up to eight hours), and kd_oauth_nonce for a login attempt (up to ten minutes, removed after callback). The enquiry form also sets kd_enquiry_token, a strictly necessary security cookie lasting up to 30 minutes, to bind a submission to your browser and prevent forgery; form submissions require this cookie. It contains a random submission reference, not your name or outline. Ordinary reading does not require an administrator account. These cookies protect login, not advertising; the identity provider and hosting platform may also operate their own necessary service cookies. Administrator identity information, article drafts and versions are stored for authorised access, publication and security. Client case papers should not be put into the article editor.
Your rights and questions
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or transfer of personal data and may object to legitimate-interests processing. Raise requests with Keane using the professional email or postal details above. Requests are ordinarily answered within one month, subject to lawful extensions or exceptions. Rights may be restricted by legal claims, confidentiality or professional obligations. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office about how your information is handled. If contact, hosting or collection arrangements change, this notice will be updated.
